Dakota’s Dalas

$35.00

I always envied the small corner of the family bookshelf that had our family Dala horses on it. I thought they were such a beautiful art form, and something about their elegant simplicity always struck me.

Each Dala Horse is made from reclaimed exotic woods such as red oak and black walnut sourced locally. Each piece takes roughly four hours to produce, and much more time afterwards to perfect every edge and corner.

Different from traditional Dala horses, ours feature the Shasta wing from our logo and the wing is suspended by copper wire that was reclaimed from one of our former drip coffee brewers.

My hope was to celebrate my heritage with a craft that was as sustainable as possible, and that could demonstrate the natural beauty of the woods I used. Typically these horses are painted in folk patterns known as kurbitsmålning, but our first run will feature natural wood stained with oil.

Please note that each piece is unique in grain pattern and shape. While we aim to be as consistent as possible, this is a handcrafted item and will vary from piece to piece.
